Wet Day @ Waldo

The is my wonderful wife, Molly, rippin' up the singletrack on the East side of the lake.
Jock in the same area, what a great character he is!!
Shawn (Jock's buddy from Montana) and his son riding the rails on the West side of the lake with Huckleberries encroaching on the trail.
Here I am with a small bay of Waldo Lake in background...was foggy and rainy all day. Looks alot like the BWCA, with mountains in the background.
Some flowers growing in a burn down on the North end of the lake. The fire was from about 10 years ago. The rebirth of this forest is beautiful with lots of flowers and small vegetation bringing this area back to life.

My happy Slayer.....muddy and beat up..just asking for more!!!

On Sunday morning Molly and I packed up the bikes, dogs, and lots of warm clothing for a ride down at Waldo Lake in the Willamette National Forest. We were going to meet our friend Jock from Eugene and a pack of his friends. It is about an hour and a half drive southwest of Bend here and is a fantastic lake to see and wilderness area to explore. Waldo Lake sits at about 5400' and is known as one of the purest lakes in the world. The trail skirts the lake and the land around it, and is about 23 miles long. The trail varies from fast and buff to very technical climbs. There were endless Huckleberries to eat along the ride and you will see them in the pictures right next to the trail. As the day proceeded the rain came down harder and the ride ultimately turned into a bone chilling wet ride with lots of mud to rip through!! Once again this was a day on the trail where all worries in life are taken away with the cadence you set while pedaling. As the ride lengthens you don't even realize how at ease you are with the trail and your bike! Enjoy...and once again..this is a great area to explore if you ever get the chance.....
