Last Friday after talking with by brother, Ryan, about cruising old forest service roads and back roads in general I got really excited to go on a loop I have wanted to drive since we first moved out here. It starts outside of Sisters, OR and skirts the Three Sisters Wilderness Area and ends up at Todd Lake over by Mt. Bachelor. Here is the exact loop for those who have a vehicle capable of driving through this area and are looking for a little adventure. From Bend take Hwy 20 to Sisters, OR. Take a left on Hwy 16 or Three Creek Rd. This is paved and is a beautiful climb up towards the Three Sisters. Once you start to plateau in a meadow the road turns to rock and gravel. At an unmarked intersection with a campground to your right and Three Creek Lake straight ahead you take a left on NFD 370. This is a sweet little 2 track road with some muddy spots, steep climbs, and beautiful views. You follow this until after a steep decent that ends at a "T" in the "road." Here you take a right and follow 370 up into Happy Valley next to The North Fork of Tumalo Creek. This is a sweet road with river crossings and long muddy sections to navigate! I love using the old land cruiser for what it does best...cruise through 2-3 foot deep rivers and mud!! This road goes all the way to Todd Lake and you end up on The Cascade Lakes Hwy by Mt. Bachelor and then head back to town..It was about 60 miles and took almost 3.5 hours of great redneck activity!! Cheers to a great afternoon in the old FJ60!

View of Three Sisters(in snowy clouds) in background with pretty meadow near the top of Three Creek Road. This is the start of the off-roadin'...

One of the multiple river crossings.

Kaia disgruntled that the snow and cold are on there way!!

Finn excited about the 6 inches of snow at the top!!

A view of Mt. Bachelor from an overlook on the trail above Todd Lake.

The end of the rally, the cruiser was up to the rocker panels in the rivers and mud....good times!!
