Stones into Schools

I recently finished Greg Mortenson's third book Stones Into Schools and was totally blown away..It is unbelievable what one person can do with an idea, some motivation, and a little over a decade of hard work! A few of my favorite passages from the book are:

"When you take the time to actually listen, with humility, to what people have to say, it's amazing what you can learn. Especially if the people who are doing the talking also happen to be children." p.191, Stones into Schools

"....And it was undoubtedly my disappointment over these events that blinded me to the rather inconvenient truth that as important as it may have been for us to try, it was even more important for us to fail." p.377, Stones into Schools

Growing up I remember a lesson I had taken from my grandmother and my parents was to always listen and to be humble. These two things alone can enrich you life endlessly...I think one of the reasons Mortenson's books have meant so much to me is that growing up my parents really emphasized the importance of education and the fact that my mother has been a teacher her whole working life! I really hope the few people that do read this can go out and get the book...if nothing else check out www.stonesintoschools.com and try and give to this great effort!
