Recently my parents visited from Minnesota to get some adventures in, drink some OR wine and beer, and to help us with our house remodel..It was the first time I have seen my mom(and dad) since leaving them back in March when my mother was still in an ICU and on the ventilator ...To say the least it was very emotional for all of us and we had a blast!!

Here my mom, dad, and I are hiking in the Big Obsidian Flow at Newberry National Monument south of Bend..It is one of the largest Obsidian flows in the world.

These small trees were growing out the different rocks in this area..They are slow growers..This one is probably 10 to 20 years old. That is Paulina Lake in the background. Newberry Crater is is a seismically and geothermally active volcano just 30 miles south of Bend. It has two alpine lakes that have lots of trout and salmon..There is a single track trail around the two lakes that is 40 some odd miles of blissful mountain biking..

Here the four of us are on top of the obsidian flows with Paulina Lake in the background..In the summer there are lots of folks out sailing and boating on these two lakes..
Here we are on top of Paulina Peak, approximately 8000ft...In the winter this is a ski/snowmobile in only area...Right behind us is a sweet couloir that I am hoping to ski this winter..

After a few days doing things around Bend we filled the car up and did the 3.5 hour drive to the coast..We went straight west to Florence and had rented a house north of town called Casa de Blanco....Here we are in the house enjoying some wine, a homemade meal, and the views of the ocean..

This was the trail from the house down to the beach..It was definitely a Hobbit Trail..Felt like you were in the jungle..

The Casa de Blanco

One afternoon we drove up to the Sea Lion Caves..They were amazing..It is a 10 story elevator ride down to get into the main cave..

From within the cave here is a view of Haceta Light House...If you look close you can see all the sea lions laying in the rocks..

View of the coast looking south.

Back in Bend, dad and I chilling after a long day working around the house...Cheers to good times!!
