This afternoon after meeting up with Molly for lunch, Finn (our Aussie) and I hit the trails. It was pouring out right from the get go which was nice to keep the temp down and to make the trails super tacky. When the trails get rain around here it is like farmin pow at the mountain in the middle of January! Finn has only been out on a few mountain bike rides so I was not sure what he was up for but since the weather was sweet (rainy and cool) and the trails bitching, I thought I would push his limits some. I have taken Kaia (our Boxer) on 20+ mile rides before and she does just fine. She did not participate today because she hates the rain and she is kind of starting to resemble a sausage with legs...So with that said, I thought our young and lean Finn would do just fine with 20+ miles and he did until about mile 18, he did make it the full 22 miles though with a little more mile bone bribing. I think I gave him about 30 milk bones along the way and talked him through the ride to keep him motivated!! It his nice to have the dog with riding because sometimes I find myself talking to the woods about my thoughts on various topics...Finn was a great listener today...We talked about work and is it better to work more and have more money and less free time or to work less and have more free time and less money...I think we came up with the consensus (my vote and his cute eyes) that it is much better to have more free time and less money! He likes us around too so that was valid point on his half! We also talked about buying a house vs renting...as you know we are in the middle of trying to buy a house that just doesn't seem to happen..the final vote on this was up in the air since Finn could care less about if we own or rent as long as he has a yard to play in, food to eat, somewhere to freely let his gas flow, good owners, and a bed to sleep in!!! I cannot remember all the other topics we covered but I guess I wondered what goes through his head while talking to him...Does he think I am crazy or does he think I am one of the best masters ever since I take him out mountain biking and skiing whenever possible?? This is a question to be debated..The picture is of Finn last winter skiing, as you can see his eyes are great and you can definitely get a feel for what he is thinking. Cheers and have a great weekend!!
