The Oregon Coast

A few weekends ago Molly and I made our almost quarterly trip to the Oregon Coast..The coast for us is a time to chill...We are usually doing something active so when we are out there we try to read, walk, stare at nothing, sunset fires, and nap...This is a task for us!!! We  have a hard time sitting still....We frequently pick a different location but as of the last couple of times we have discovered that we like the quiet coast between Yachats and Waldport..It is a beautiful expanse of open sandy beaches and if you hit it at the right time you will be treated with sunny, 70s, and no wind.....It just so happens that this last trip was just that. The following images pretty much sum up our three day weekend...Hope you enjoy..
I spent some time reading through David James Duncan's short stories..A perfect book for reading on the Oregon Coast.

Looking south towards Yachats...miles away and no people...

We were lucky enough to see this Peregrine Falcon, an uncommon sight....And to top it off we saw this predator of the sky fly down a sea gull and crush it...It then proceeded to rip him apart with feathers flying everywhere right in front of us..It was highly impressive, though a little brutal.

Looking south...The tide heading out while I was in the water...

Molly and the dogs looking North towards Waldport.

 Some driftwood..

 Seagrass..

Succulent looking little plant on the dunes.

Small flowers..

The dogs and I happy with the weather....

One of the sunsets we enjoyed on the beach..

Another view of the sunset with a small creek heading to sea..

Ahhh...I love campfires on the beach with my favorite person, our dogs, and a great sunset!!

The last sunset we saw before having to head home in the morning...Taken from atop the sandy cliff above the beach..

On the way home through Newport we hit up Rogue Nation......Rogue Brewery was a great pit stop for a beer and burger before heading back home to the high desert..Oh the coast was as great as always..I love all its personalities...It reminds me of being home on The Great Gitchi Gummee..Cheers
