So as many of you know, Molly and I, have had an offer on a house here in Bend for a little over three months now. For those of you have never delt with a short-sale on a home, they can be a real pain in the ass! Essentially the bank lets folks sell their house for less than what they owe on it, in return the owner does not have to file for bankruptcy or foreclose on the house. The nice thing for buyers is you can score a really good deal on a house!
We put the offer in a little over three months ago. We waited for about eight weeks before we even got word from Washington Mutual (who I highly recommend not to deal with) that they accepted the offer. Then as we thought we were going to be closing on this house the title company(Ameri-Title) realized that they have not got word from a lien on the home. This lien was a second mortgage taken out through a small bank locally. When we notified them that the house was being sold they had no idea...What the f#$! we all said... Apparently, the sellers agent did not finish his work on getting this loan cleared for the sale..nice job buddy! Must be nice to have job where you can mess up and not be held accountable for any further complications or loss of money!!From his slick little mistake we not only are not in the house but we lost a good chunk of grant money from Uncle Sam because we did not close by the 15th of September..Thanks to trusty "W" he signed away with that program at the end of summer!! We love "W" and the trusty sellers agent..
Now, the story continues. As our title company has been communicating with this second bank we find out they passed on the loan to a collection agent because the owners have been delinquent on this loan too!! Sweet, one more hoop to jump through!! Starting to feel like college all over again...So that is where we are at with this saga....If we do not get the collection agent to take the couple of thousand dollars offered and write the loan off the house will be foreclosed on by the 1st of October, at which point the collection agent will get nile from this loan...
We are keeping our fingers crossed for the best!! In the meantime we have been putting as many miles on the singletrack and the country roads as our legs will tolerate!!
